Dr. Reece Mills investigated the value of an instructional approach whereby school students constructed a stop-motion animation (slowmation) to represent geological processes. He found that the construction process and students’ interest in learning enhanced their conceptual understanding. Reece’s findings have informed the development of a pedagogical framework to support science teachers use of slowmation.
