Implementing Novel STEM Partnership in Indigenous and Rural Education (INSPIRE)

Implementing Novel STEM Partnership in Indigenous and Rural Education

INSPIRE INSPIRE 2018 brings final year QUT STEM undergraduates together with an experienced science communicator/mentor/lecturer to develop a teaching plan with indigenous/rural high school science teachers from Longreach, Mt Isa or Normanton. This will involve hosting the high school teachers in Brisbane 25-26 June to workshop this plan which will be tailored to their curriculum and learning needs of their students, and for the teachers to benefit from existing QUT-teacher support programs. Each QUT duo will then visit the high schools for 5 night stay (23-27th July or following week) to deliver STEM workshops and activities to year 9 and 10 students, with the added opportunity to donate QUT STEM-related equipment.
