
The BSRG featured at the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) – Queensland Branch Annual Scientific Meeting held in Noosa Heads from 6-9 June 2019. Prof Peter Pivonka was invited as a local guest speaker and presented on the “Bone’s Adaptive Response to Mechanical Loading: Insights from Bone Imaging and Computational Simulations”. Our Spine Surgeon, Dr Geoff Askin was an invited speaker in the plenary ‘Hot Issue Session’ titled “The Ethics of Success in Orthopaedics”. Our Clinical/Research Masters Student, Dr Pawel Sowula gave a podium presentation entitled, “Progression of sagittal plane deformity and axial vertebral rotation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis using sequential MRI”. The conference covered broad areas of orthopaedic research in the scientific sessions as well as instructional course lectures, workshops and ‘Bone School’ for training Registrars.
