The QUT Biomechanics & Spine Research Group (BSRG) is a collaboration between Medical Engineering at QUT and the Spinal Orthopaedic Surgeons at Qld Children’s Hospital. Our multi-disciplinary research group conducts high quality research into paediatric spinal deformity and other spine conditions, to improve the current treatments and understanding of spine disorders to ensure patients receive the best management possible.

Founded in 2002, the BSRG (formerly the Paediatric Spine Research Group) has developed strong industry, hospital and university collaborations that have allowed us to influence the next generation of engineers and clinicians working at the interface of orthopaedics and biomechanics. Our expertise in mechanical testing using our state of the art facilities at QUT and computational simulation tools has made us a leader in these fields.

The BSRG conducts research to address; Paediatric Spine Deformity, Custom solutions to improve the clinical treatment and management of spine deformity, Computational Modelling, Adult sleep quality, and Remote spinal care for children with scoliosis.
