Mr Maxence Lavaill, a visiting postgraduate engineering student will work with the BSRG from April to August 2018. Max undertakes a double degree in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Technology Compiegne (UTC), France and is here to work with Prof Pivonka and the BSRG team on his final year project.
The aim of his project is to investigate the effects of anabolic treatments on bone mineral density (BMD) in osteoporosis including drug treatment with Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) and physiological exercise. For this purpose Max will develop a variety of computational models together with image analysis tools to quantify the anabolic effects.
