Energy

At the Centre for Materials Science, our researchers are leading innovations in design, synthesis, and engineering of materials with tailored functions for energy conversion and storage systems.

Our research spans from:

  • organic/inorganic semiconductor materials for next generation solar cells;
  • thermoelectric devices;
  • plasmonic nanometallic materials for value-added chemical fuel synthesis;
  • functional catalytic nanomaterials for hydrogen generation and chemical fuel production through CO2 reduction;
  • bio-inspired materials;
  • electrolyte and membrane materials for batteries and supercapacitors.

We address global challenges including the development of cost-effective renewable energy solutions and the mitigation of green-house emissions.
