You’re invited to apply for the upcoming YRF!


This is your opportunity to design innovative future food systems that are carbon neutral and human friendly!

Join industry leaders and design thinking experts to explore how technology might unlock sustainable supply chains for future food. Develop your ideas, and pitch to win a project budget of $10,000 at the QUT Youth Research Forum Hackathon. The Youth Research Forum kicks off with a weekend Hackathon on 8th, 9th & 10th of September, and concludes with an industry showcase on 22nd November 2023*.

Students from all faculties and majors are encouraged to apply.

The QUT Youth Research Forum topic is focused on DESIGNING FOR FUTURE FOOD – innovations for human friendly and carbon neutral foods.

Sparking an internal collaboration opportunity, the QUT YRF is led in partnership with QUT’s Centre for Future Enterprise, Innovation Central Brisbane, QUT Entrepreneurship, and the School of Biology and Environmental Science. QUT has designed the Youth Research Forum as a three-phase ideation program that aims to enable student connections with industry; formation of teams and ideas; and provide the space, mentorship, and capacity to build working prototypes.

QUT’s Youth Research Forum program includes three key phases:

1. YOUTH RESEARCH FORUM HACKATHON

Form teams and spend and intensive weekend developing your ideas and pitching to win a project budget valued at $10,000.

2. BUILD the PROTOTYPE

Up to five A structured ten-week program, mentored by researchers, design thinking experts, and industry, to develop a working prototype .

3. SHOWCASE to GROW

A public networking event attended by industry where students demonstrate prototypes and explore further interest for continued development.
