Visitors

Welcome to Brisbane!

QUT’s Centre for Future Enterprise (CFE) routinely draws distinguished scholars and thought leaders from across the globe. Join our vibrant team and make the most of our world-class expertise, supportive community and state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Whether you’re staying a week or a year, we’re looking forward to welcoming you to CFE.

Options for your visit

Hosting academic colleagues is a vital part of fostering diversity and innovation at CFE. If you’re considering spending time with us, we encourage you to first connect with a CFE member who can act as your host. This collaboration ensures a seamless onboarding experience, aligns your activities with our portfolios and enhances your time with us.

During your visit, you’ll have access to your own workspace within our beautiful offices in the recently re-designed Gardens Point campus (Z-block, Level 7). Here, you’ll be integrated as a full member of our community, with the opportunity to regularly participate in research events and present your own work during your stay.

We offer flexibility in the duration of visits, with options tailored to different goals and schedules:

h

Short-duration visits (e.g., 1 week)

These visits are often introductory or planned as part of an extended stay in Australia, with a clear purpose in mind. During your time with us, you will have the opportunity to present to the Centre, promoting a shared understanding of research initiatives from both sides. Visits by our Adjunct Professors are a good example.

Medium-duration visits (3–12 weeks)

These visits, often in the form of sabbaticals, are typically integrated into research projects, such as those involving overseas partner investigators. They are purpose-driven, with a clear focus on advancing specific projects and producing related research papers.

Longer-duration visits (3–12 months)

For ambitious researchers seeking significant collaboration and integration into our projects, longer stays allow time to build deep partnerships. This format is also suitable for visiting Master’s or Ph.D. students conducting case studies or complementary research related to their academic focus. Clear outcomes, such as published papers or grant proposals, are typically defined for these extended visits.

Planning your stay

Visa application

It’s a good idea to apply for your visa as soon as possible to avoid any delays. Processing times can vary depending on the type of visa, so starting early ensures you have ample time to address any additional requirements.

Housing options

QUT does not have its own housing website. However, you might find options through real estate websites like Domain or Realestate.com.au

Healthcare insurance

For healthcare, you’ll need to arrange private health insurance to meet visa requirements. QUT does not offer Medicare, as it is a government program limited to specific visa categories. You could explore options like Bupa, Medibank or Allianz for international health insurance, but this is entirely up to you. Please refer to the paragraph in your invitation letter about medical coverage.
