Educationalisation – What it means for academia

Educationalisation, the conversion and integration of research outcomes into teaching content, is reshaping how universities approach their core missions.

For academics and teaching teams, this shift offers a powerful opportunity to rethink how research informs teaching, how curriculum connects with societal needs, and how students engage with knowledge in meaningful ways. At its core, educationalisation invites academics and educators to rethink the boundaries between teaching, research, and curriculum design. It encourages a shift from viewing education as a separate domain to recognising it as a central, integrative force within scholarly work. By using live research as a foundation for curriculum, educators can create dynamic, responsive learning experiences that reflect the complexity and relevance of contemporary knowledge production.

Educationalisation bridges the gap between research and teaching, creating a unified academic practice that’s both rigorous and relevant.

Educationalisation also offers academics a strategic framework for amplifying the impact of their research. By embedding educational thinking into scholarly work, researchers can translate complex ideas into curriculum that is accessible, engaging, and deeply connected to lived experience. This not only enhances student learning but also increases the visibility and relevance of academic research within and beyond the university.

Join the educationalisation workshop: Transforming research into curriculum

To support this shift, we’re launching a dedicated workshop for academics, teaching teams, and curriculum creators in mid-2026. This hands-on session will explore how to turn live research into curriculum that is engaging, relevant, and transformative. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies for integrating educational thinking into their academic practice, with a focus on real-world application and student impact.

If you’re interested in learning more or being part of the upcoming workshop, we invite you to get in touch. This is an opportunity to collaborate, reflect, and reimagine how education and research can work together to shape the future of academia.
