Dr. Thusyanthy (Thusi) Lavan is a Lecturer in Marketing at the School of Advertising, Marketing, and Public Relations at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). She earned her PhD in Marketing from QUT in 2022 and holds over 13 years of combined experience in academia and industry. Prior to her appointment at QUT, she held full-time academic positions at leading Sri Lankan universities and worked in the banking sector, contributing valuable practical insights to her teaching and research. Thusi coordinates undergraduate and postgraduate units, and actively contributes to academic service, including membership on the Faculty Academic Misconduct Committee.
Her research interests span consumer behaviour, digital marketing, social media marketing, scale development, and knowledge transfer in B2B contexts. She has published in leading journals 'A*/A' journals such as Industrial Marketing Management and the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, and regularly presents at international conferences including the Academy of Marketing Science, SERVSIG, and ANZMAC. Thusi was a finalist in QUT’s 2021 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U2p3Q1lnmE) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), highlighting her commitment to research impact and teaching excellence.
Thusi’s commitment to both academic excellence and industry-relevant research continues to make a significant impact at QUT, where she strives to bridge the gap between theory and practice while contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of marketing.
