Are you a business with a problem you want solved?
The BSB105 Future Enterprise unit serves as a dynamic platform where education and industry meet to tackle complex, real-world challenges. It’s not just an academic exercise—it’s an opportunity for business, government and industry to gain actionable, research-driven insights while building connections with the next generation of talent.
Collaborating to solve business challenges
Partnering with QUT gives organisations access to a unique talent pool of first-year business students equipped with industry-focused knowledge and innovative thinking. Students actively engage with businesses to identify pain points, uncover opportunities, and develop tailored solutions. For businesses, this collaborative model is an excellent way to gain diverse, fresh perspectives that can drive meaningful progress.
For instance, in Semester 1 of 2025, 1,700 Future Enterprise students will collaborate with the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) on a critical challenge—“How can technology improve insurance literacy for young drivers?” This real-world problem isn’t tackled in isolation. Instead, it’s paired with academic rigor and business insight, enabling both students and businesses to explore breakthrough solutions together.
Real results for businesses and students alike
The value of the Future Enterprise unit extends well beyond the classroom. Former students, now employed at MAIC, have shown how this program provides a direct pathway from university to the workplace. These professionals shared how their participation in BSB105 led to internships, the creation of impactful initiatives, and eventual full-time roles.
One standout achievement? The development of the CTP Ambassadors Program, which addresses real challenges faced by MAIC while fostering innovation. This project, along with other solutions, highlights how the program equips students with in-demand skills they can apply from day one in the workforce. Hear from some of our industry partners
As someone who is neither a biologist, food specialist (although, I am a big fan of food!), nor engineer, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to develop an engineering solution to an important future food challenge. The event really opened up possibilities for innovation and creativity, and particularly encouraged cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Each stage of the process was well structured and supported with experts, learning modules and materials to help us come up with the best pitch we could at the end of the week. I really enjoyed every aspect of this and look forward to joining more in the future!
Seeing students come together for the Youth Research Forum to solve future food challenges was a great learning experience for me. I am very excited to be mentoring a team over the next three months. I am going to support them with my scientific knowledge to develop a prototype for small-scale mycoprotein production.
