Associate Professor Bree Hurst recently spoke at the French Embassy in Canberra for an event launching the Agri-Food Scientific Community of AFRAN, held at the Residence of France. The aim of the event was to foster collaboration in agri-food sciences across research, government, and industry, via 3 panel sessions. It was hosted by H.E. Pierre-André Imbert, Ambassador of France to Australia.

Bree (second, from right) joined fellow panel members (pictured above):

  • Dr Pablo Juliano, Group Leader, Food Processing and Supply Chains, Agriculture and Food, CSIRO
  • Francesca Goodman-Smith, Acting Research, Development & Extension Director, End Food Waste Australia
  • Vincent Hebrail, Counsellor (Agriculture), Embassy of France in Australia.

The panel sessions addressed:

  • The main challenges for science in agri-food: Australian and French perspectives
  • Research and innovation for post-farmgate challenges
  • One Health: agricultural science in our changing world

This event marks a significant step forward in strengthening French-Australian research cooperation on climate resilience, food systems, and sustainability.
