Dr. Mehrzad Saeedikiya is a Sessional Academic and Unit Coordinator at the QUT and the recipient of two scholarships from QUT and the Centre for Future Enterprise. He is Affiliated with Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research and Centre for Future Enterprise. Mehrzad graduated from the University of Milan and has held teaching and research positions at Tsinghua University, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, and Australian Catholic University.

Teaching: As an experienced academic, his more than 7 years of teaching experience in different countries and business schools (including The University of Queensland, and Queensland University of Technology Business Schools and QUT school of information systems, and Australian Catholic University), has equipped him with a great inter-cultural intelligence. To date, Mehrzad has won different awards and titles for his teaching excellence, including 2025 FLB Executive Dean Teaching & Learning Innovation Grant from Australian Catholic University. He is also a Certified Business Educator.

Research: Mehrzad’s research at QUT connects the ongoing conversation in Information Systems (IS) and Entrepreneurship domains regarding the interplay of digital transformation, innovation, and sustainability. Thanks to QUT’s academic leadership in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation domain, Mehrzad looks for opportunities to learn and research the role of emerging digital technologies in improving the firm’s entrepreneurial and sustainable performance. In his research, Mehrzad considers how dynamic capabilities emerge, interact with other firm capabilities, and translate to the companies’ innovative and sustainable performance. His dissertation was centered around the Role of Digital Transformation in Innovation Based Competitive Strategy of the Firm and Its Performance. Mehrzad has been engaged in various academic citizenship activities, including peer review for more than 20 journals, editorial review board memberships, and serving as the Community Manager for the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division, the Australasian Consortium for Entrepreneurship Research Excellence, and the External Enablement of Entrepreneurship Community. He has won the Emerald Literati Award for Outstanding Reviews for the Journal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies. He also received the Best Reviewer Award (remotely) at the Academy of Management 2025 Annual Conference held in Copenhagen, Denmark, which is considered the most prestigious conference in the field of management.

At the Australian Centre for Entrepreneurship Research, Mehrzad has served in various voluntary capacities, including research assistant, managing the centre’s flagship conference ACERE in 2024 and 2025.
