
Wen is a conservation practitioner, data scientist, and planner with over 15 years of experience in systematic conservation planning, particularly in the marine environment. His academic journey began at the University of Indonesia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography Science in 2004. He then pursued a Master of Science in Natural Resource Management at the Bogor Agricultural Institute, Indonesia. Currently, he am a PhD candidate at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), focusing my research on developing innovative conservation planning theory and prioritization methods for Antarctica’s unique biodiversity. Wen’s work aims to address the region’s distinct ecological challenges, governance, and threats. Through this research, he is working to identify priority areas for expanding Antarctica’s protected area network and creating a strategic plan to ensure the region’s environmental future. In addition to his academic pursuits, Wen has extensive expertise in managing complex, large-scale spatial datasets. He specializes in conducting detailed spatial analyses and crafting maps that serve both broad overviews and in-depth investigations.
