Tristen Jackson

PhD Candidate, School of Mathematical Sciences

Tristen Jackson is a PhD student under the supervision of Dr Adrianne Jenner, based in the Neuroimmunology and Infection Research Group at QIMR Berghofer.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics, along with a Master of Science degree in Biomathematics.

Before commencing his PhD, Tristen worked briefly in pharmacometrics at Kriya Therapeutics, where he helped determine the first-in-human dosing strategy for a gene therapy product that is now undergoing clinical trial.

Tristen’s expertise lies in systems and computational biology, which he’s using to investigate the cellular interactions underlying neuroinflammation using mathematical modelling. His research provides insight into how immune cell populations differentiate and evolve during neuroinflammation, paving the way for specialized immune cell targeting as a treatment for neurological disorders. This research is made possible through interdisciplinary collaboration with investigators from QIMR Berghofer, Vaxxas Inc., and the QUT Centre for Immunology and Infection Control, among other institutions. He was awarded a QUTPRA research award in 2024 to undertake this project.
