Ieuan studied Computational Modelling and Data Analytics at Virginia Tech for his undergraduate degree. At Virginia Tech, Ieuan worked for the baseball team and attended the prestigious Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) conference. After graduating he secured a job at Ludis Analytics, a start-up company that specializes in sports data engineering, as a Data Scientist. During his tenure he automated, scraped, and cleaned data for AFL teams, NSWIS, and Cricket New South Wales who are now Ieuan’s industry partner for his PhD.
What made you interested in this program?
I am passionate about combining my Data Science skills with my passion for sport. My earliest sports memories are looking up baseball stats on ESPN’s website for hours. I hope to inspire the next generation of sports data nerds with my research.
