The QUT Centre for Data Science (CDS) brings together world-class researchers and students to solve complex problems using data-driven & AI approaches. Our PartnerBoost program is designed to ignite and seed-fund collaborations between industry and CDS talent—driving innovation, growth, and measurable impact.
Funding Available from QUT CDS
QUT CDS will support multiple projects with up to $15,000 per project in cash contribution to kickstart promising collaborations. Partner contributions to unlock greater outcomes and benefits will be viewed favourably.

What We’re Aiming to Fund
We invite industry partners to propose research projects that matter to you, confidentially if required. Think about where data science or AI could make a difference in your organisation. For example, could we help you:
- Solve a complex challenge using advanced analytics, machine learning, or AI
- Co-develop a proof-of-concept or prototype for a new product or technology
- Co-Design and run a pilot study to test methods, data collection, or feasibility before scaling up
- Unlock insights from your data through analysis, modelling, and powerful visualisations
If you have an idea — even at an early stage — we’d love to explore it with you. We are looking to fund projects with the best value with money and potential for impact and follow-on opportunities.
Proposed projects will be assessed competitively on application, which shall detail the proposed project’s:
- Project Aim: What challenge or opportunity are we addressing?
- Inputs: What will you and QUT contribute? (e.g., data, staff time, $, IP)
- Activities: What work will be done and what expertise is needed?
- Outputs: What will the project produce? (e.g., proof of concept, algorithm,
report, prototype software, academic paper, improved technology?) - Outcomes & Impact: Benefits for and/or beyond your organisation and Australia
- Follow-On Opportunities: How could this lead to future funding,
commercialisation, partnership/collaboration growth, or investment?
Program Timeline
- Partnership for Impact Opens: December 2025 (get in touch from now)
- Promotion & Info Sessions: February 2026 Sessions (Online & In Person)
- Application Deadline: 23 March 2026 (your QUT CDS contact will apply)
- Winning Idea(s) Announced: 20 April 2026 (for contracting & commencement)
- Project Commencement & Completion: Between April 30 and Nov 30, 2026
