Areas of Interest: the application of social cue derived communication mechanisms to appearance-constrained and functional robots and explores methods of virtual prototyping for improved Human-Robot Collaboration.

James Dwyer is a QUT Industrial Design and Psychology graduate and is currently a Research Associate and MPhil candidate at the QUT BMW Design Academy exploring advances in human-robot interactions. James tutors Industrial Design units looking at tangible interactions and is a Research Assistant in various QUT Design Lab projects related to transport and health.

With a background in electronics, coding and sensor technologies, James has been involved in various high-profile projects, including creative team lead for the Ars Electronica Futurelab, which was a finalist in the 2018 IxDA Awards. James now looks to apply what he has learned from these experiences to new forms of virtual prototyping.
