QUT has been awarded $1,200,955 for three ARC Linkage Projects and $4,917,549 for 13 Discovery Projects.
Seven of the Discovery Projects are led by researchers from our Centre:
- Professor Aijun Du for discovery and design of 2D ferromagnets for nanoscale electronics $350,000; and for boosting carbon dioxide reduction via surface and interface engineering: $457,000
- Professor Ken Ostrikov, along with Professor Anthony O’Mullane and Associate Professor Jennifer MacLeod for plasma-assisted on-surface assembly for hydrogen production and beyond: $330,000
- Professor Kathryn Fairfull-Smith along with QUT’s Associate Professor Makrina Totsika for eradicating bacterial biofilms with nitroxide-antimicrobial hybrids: $458,000
- Professor Hongxia Wang along with Dr Chao Zhang and Dr Deepak Dubal for high performance monolithic perovskite photocapacitors: $370,000
- Associate Professor Prashant Sonar for stretchable organic transistors for wearable electronics and robotics: $360,000
- Professor Huai-Yong Zhu, along with Associate Professor Eric Waclawik and Dr Sarina Sarina for promoting transition metal complex catalysis with plasmonic antennae: $284,000.
Federal Education Minister Dan Tehan announced the outcomes for the Australian Research Council Discovery Projects for funding starting in 2021.
The Discovery Projects scheme aims to expand the knowledge base and research capacity in Australia and support research that will provide economic, commercial, environmental, social and cultural benefits for Australia.
