Do you use an App at work for accepting shifts or rosters, or to record the completion of tasks?
Are your work activities automatically monitored using tech such as screen monitoring, keyboard tracking, or GPS?
Has new technology changed the way you work?
Associate Professor Penny Williams is conducting interviews for a research project that explores the different types of technologies that organisations are adopting to recruit and to manage employees, including hybrid and remote workforces. These technologies might aim to improve productivity using algorithms to track keystrokes or analyse emails, develop efficient rosters or allocate tasks to workers, or they might aim to improve worker safety by monitoring the location or health of workers.
The project aims to understand why these AI-enabled HR technologies are being adopted and the associated risks and benefits.
Are you looking for people like me?
The research team is looking to interview workers in Australian organisations who have experienced these technologies.
What will you ask me to do?
Your participation will involve a confidential, audio-recorded 45-minute interview on the phone, Microsoft Teams or Zoom. Questions will ask about the technology you use as part of your day-to-day work. Your responses will be de-identified.
Are there any risks for me taking part?
The research team does not believe there are any risks beyond normal day-to-day living associated with your participation in this research. If you do agree to participate you can withdraw from participation in the research project without comment or penalty.
Are there any benefits for me in taking part?
Individuals who participate in the interview will receive a Prezzee gift card to the value of $25 (AUD) to thank you for being involved. The gift cards will be distributed to you via email by the QUT Project Team. It is not expected that this research will benefit you directly. However, it may benefit organisations and all employees through clearer guidance on the use of AI-enabled HR systems.
