PhD Researcher

Zahra (Tina) Mehraban holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, finishing both programs in the top three of her cohort. Her Bachelor thesis focused on AI-based optimisation algorithms, while during her Master studies she shifted her interest toward autonomous vehicles, working on model predictive control (MPC) for vehicle control.
She commenced her PhD at the Queensland University of Technology in 2024, directly after finishing her master’s studies where her research focuses on computer vision and driver attention analysis. Her work examines how human drivers allocate visual attention in dynamic driving scenarios, using gaze data, attention mapping, and scene interpretation techniques to support the development of vision-based models for automated driving.
