We proudly support and uphold QUT’s values of ambition, curiosity, integrity, inclusiveness and innovation.
It is important that members of our centre reflect the diversity of the wider community. We recognise the benefits of an environment that celebrates and welcomes diversity, as it impacts on the retention, innovation, collaboration and productivity of staff and students.
Our priority is to make QCR a safe, inclusive and supportive place to work and study so that our staff and students have the best possible chance to succeed. We are committed to equitable treatment of all our members and elimination of discrimination in all its forms.
Gender equity is a particular priority and we have implemented policies and processes to ensure higher female representation and participation within the Centre. Some of these include:
- offering a Carer’s Support Scheme to assist with family travel and childcare expenses to enable centre researchers to attend conferences
- encouraging mentorship and professional development, particularly of Early Career Investigators and higher degree research students
- improving recognition and visibility of achievements through the nomination for awards such as the Women in Technology (WiT) Awards.
- a dedicated Parent’s room.
The centre also has a number of trained QUT Allies who are trained to understand sexuality and gender issues, and are committed to promoting a safe, inclusive and diverse university.
