We are delighted to share that Associate Professor Aaron McFadyen from the QUT School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics has been honoured with the 2024 Australian Museum Eureka Prize for Innovative Use of Technology. This prestigious award recognizes Professor McFadyen’s pioneering work in revolutionizing airspace management through advanced software solutions.
Professor McFadyen’s software has dramatically enhanced how we analyse, assess, and manage airspace operations. His development of rapid, low-cost risk assessment and map generation technologies has streamlined flight planning and the approval processes for uncrewed or drone operations, setting new standards in aviation safety and efficiency.
“I’m very honoured to receive this award. Creating new technologies in aviation comes with quite a few challenges so I would really like to thank my supporters – QUT, our industry partners and the aviation authorities we have here in Australia. I hope they can feel part of this recognition too,” he said.
This award follows Professor McFadyen’s previous accolades, including the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) Batterham Medal in 2022. His work continues to make a significant impact on aviation technology.
Congratulations to Professor McFadyen and all the Eureka Prize winners for their exceptional contributions to science and technology!
