Margaux Edwards is an incoming PhD student with a Mechatronics Engineering degree from Queensland University of Technology. Her research, supervised by Michael Milford, Tobias Fischer, and Thierry Peynot, focuses on Multi-Modal Sensor Introspection for Robust Visual Place Recognition.
She previously worked in the Defense industry, where she held student and graduate roles in R&D and engineering design for military and logistics vehicles both in Australia and Europe. Her work specialised in autonomous platforms, control design and she is looking forward to translate these industry experiences into research with wide-ranging applications.
With a strong foundation in hands-on robotics from high school through university, she served as an executive of several student societies, a tutor in control and autonomous systems subjects, and undertook internships at Emesent and CSIRO. Beyond academia and industry, Margaux has played a leading role in robotics outreach through the RoboCup Federation, developing programs and supporting teachers and students across Australia and internationally, particularly in regional and remote communities.
