Researchers in the QUT Centre for Material Science are leading innovation in new materials and technologies for real time detection of bioactive molecules (e.g., environmental toxins, heavy metals, energetic materials, proteins, disease biomarkers, disease agents, food pathogens) within the environment, industry and at points of care (POC).
Our researchers collaborate with a large network of international and domestic scientists and government agencies to develop sensors for real life applications such as national security, the clinical diagnosis of diseases, therapeutic drug monitoring, environmental monitoring, food quality/safety.
The high expertise of our multidisciplinary research teams is creating impact in cutting edge sensor platforms that include:
- Stimuli-responsive biosensors
- Electrochemical sensors
- Plasmonic sensors
- Machine learning solutions
