Professor Zhi-Gang Chen & Dr Sarina Sarina are awarded ARC Future Fellowships

Congratulations to Professor of Zhi-Gang Chen and Dr. Sarina Sarina from the Centre for Material Science who are awarded a four year ARC Future Fellowships.

Future Fellowships reflects the Australian Government’s commitment to excellence in research by supporting excellent mid-career researchers to undertake high quality research in areas of national and international benefit.

Prefessor Zhi-Gang Chen project “New-generation flexible thermoelectrics for wearable electronics” aims to develop lightweight, flexible, and durable thermoelectric thin films for wearable electronics using a computation-guided approach, coupled with novel device design and materials nanoengineering strategies. Expected outcomes include new understanding of thermoelectrics and innovative technologies for achieving electronics/energy applications, which will provide significant economic and educational benefits for Australia.

Dr. Sarina Sarina project ” Plasmonic nanoparticle catalysis for nitrogen-based synthesis” aims to apply plasmonic nanoparticles with normal-intensity light to take advantage of plasmonic-generated optical forces for catalytic chemical synthesis. This highly innovative strategy will be used to discover new nitrogen-based syntheses which are both fundamentally and industrially important.
