High-achievement award goes to Amandeep Singh Pannu

Amandeep Singh Pannu with PhD Supervisor, Associate Professor Prashant Sonar

Congratulations to Amandeep Singh Pannu who recently received the QUT Science and Engineering Faculty HDR High Achiever Award.

Amandeep is a PhD student based at our Centre, focusing on the ‘synthesis of 2D material and their application in opto-electronic devices’. In the past three years Amandeep has been working on a novel method to develop carbon dots (nanoparticles) for sensing and self-assembly of carbon dots for application into devices. Throughout his research process he has developed the world’s first flexible organic light emitting diode, where the active material comes from human hair.

His research has been covered by over 20 media outlets, and published in Advanced Materials and Hot Topic. He has presented his work at the Australian Community for Advanced Organic Semiconductors (AUCAOS) and at the International conference in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology – where he received the award for best poster at both events. Amandeep consistently demonstrates his ability to produce high-impact research that aims to benefit society.
