Congratulations to C4IE researchers, Haley Tancredi, Professor Linda Graham, and Dr Callula Killingly, who have been featured by QUT for their study on improving education for students with ADHD and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). Their research, published in The Australian Educational Researcher, identified a significant number of undiagnosed students struggling with vocabulary, working memory, and attention regulation. They advocate for enhancing teaching accessibility by simplifying linguistic, procedural, and visual elements, rather than merely focusing on student identification. Their findings highlight the negative impact of excessive teacher talk on student engagement and recommend effective teaching practices such as using simple language, concrete examples, and regular comprehension checks. The team has developed a professional learning program through the Accessible Assessment ARC Linkage Project to help teachers implement these strategies.
