
Tony McCarthy is a research assistant in The Centre for Inclusive Education. Tony has a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Masters of Law (LLM) from QUT and was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2015. Tony has worked as a government legal officer advocating for the rights and interests of children and young people, and as a solicitor with Queensland Advocacy Incorporated (QAI) providing specialist legal advice and representation in mental health and human rights law. Tony has also worked in various research and project coordinator roles, and as a research assistant and sessional academic with the QUT Law School. Tony’s research interests include human rights law and health law, particularly in relation to children’s rights and the rights of people with disability. Tony’s most recent research is focused on the regulation of restraint and seclusion in Australian government schools.
