Kenan Degirmenci is a Lecturer in the School of Information Systems and part of the Service Science Research Group. Further, he is the Deputy Academic Lead (Learning & Teaching) and the Subject Area Coordinator of the Bachelor of Information Technology course. He has received a Doctor of Economics (Institute of Information Systems) and a Dipl oec (Major in Information Systems) from the University of Hannover. His research focuses on analysing how information systems support individuals and organisations to improve decision-making. More specifically, he focuses on four aspects: (1) business analysis and decision modelling to understand decision-making, (2) quantitative research methods in information systems to evaluate decision-making, (3) digital services to motivate decision-making for sustainable behaviour change, and (4) psychometric analysis to improve information security and privacy decisions.
Kenan has a background in information systems, economics and management, and behavioural sciences, and is working with Prof Arthur ter Hofstede on decision modelling and data quality. Kenan is interested in combining decision modelling with the behavioural economics research of the Centre.
Research interests: He has worked on various projects with a focus on how to use information systems (IS) to improve the economic and environmental performance of organisations from a societal, organisational, and individual perspective.
