“Sexy Selfies: How to Increase the Positive Use of Social Media Filters Amongst Young Women”
Thesis project
The purpose of this project is to understand how and why different personas of women, apply and utilise Instagram filters. This project seeks to classify whether women believe that the facial modifications from the filters are either major or minor in nature.
The current interventions and tools that aim to reduce filter usage amongst women will be evaluated to provide inspiration and allow us to address any deficiencies discovered. Lastly, this study will employ creative techniques, to produce solutions that effectively individually target the different personas of women who use filters to make minor or major modifications to their photos.
The findings from the study will help inform the design of interventions to reduce potentially unhealthy use of filters on social media.
