Public Health and Technology Law
As health technologies evolve and new public health challenges arise legal, regulatory, and ethical dimensions must be addressed. This research program investigates the legal, regulatory, and ethical dimensions of contemporary public health and emerging health technologies. It brings together interdisciplinary expertise to examine public health governance, global health law, and how technological innovation in healthcare can support equity, privacy, accountability, and public trust.
Areas of research focus include:
- infectious disease control including Covid-19
- non-communicable disease prevention including vaccination
- public health and intellectual property including access to medicines
- tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping control and regulation
- environmental health, sustainability and climate change
- regulation of emerging technologies in healthcare eg digital health platforms
- regulation of artificial intelligence in health care decision-making
- health data collection, privacy and use.
