End of Life in Primary Care webinar – Dr Katrine Del Villar

A field of wheat

ACHLR researcher Dr Katrine Del Villar, together with Dr Paresh Dawda, will lead the first of a seven-part End of Life in Primary Care webinar series hosted by Capital Health Network.

With the introduction of Voluntary Assisted Dying in the ACT fast approaching in November 2025, it is an important time for clinicians to refresh and update their knowledge of end-of-life care in primary care settings.

This seven-part online webinar series brings together leading experts in law, general practice, nursing, and palliative care to explore the clinical, ethical, and legal aspects of end-of-life care in the ACT. The sessions are designed for GPs, practice nurses, nurse practitioners, allied health professionals, and others working in primary care who support patients with serious illness and their families.

In the first session, End-of-Life Law for Clinicians in ACT, Dr Katrine Del Villar and Dr Paresh Dawda will discuss consent, substitute decision-making, futile treatment, voluntary assisted dying, and the doctrine of double effect. This session is an RACGP-approved CPD activity under the RACGP CPD Program and will take place on Tuesday 23 September 2025 (6.30 – 8.30pm).

You can find out more and register for this or other sessions in the series on the eventbrite website.
