I am interested in developing novel high performance thermoelectric materials, devices and applications. Specially, I am focusing on discovering novel strategies to boost thermoelectric performance of state-of-the-art materials for both near room-temperature, and mid- to high-temperature ranges. New understanding that can deepen the understanding of thermoelectric materials is of special interest. Following the developed materials, I am also expecting developing new-generation of microscale thermoelectric devices to realize high energy conversion efficiency and power density, simultaneously. Moreover, I also aim to extend the application of thermoelectric technology by proper system design, such as wearable charger or more efficient low-grade waste heat recovery.

I am important because I have extended the understanding on designing novel high-performance thermoelectric materials. The hierarchical structure design realized by doping, deep alloying, compositing, boundary recrystallization, etc., have greatly boosted the development of high-performance thermoelectric materials, and realized ultrahigh dimensionless figure of merit in various thermoelectric materials. I have further designed novel microscale thermoelectric devices, contributing to ultrahigh power density and energy conversion efficiency. By appropriate system optimization, I have further extended the application of thermoelectric technology to chip cooling and personal thermal manamgement.

My work aims to benefit the thermoelectric technology, expand corresponding application of this emission/vibration/noise/service-free technology, and finally benefit the broad community.
