Dr Juan Bai

Nanomaterials science specialist, electrocatalytic scientist

I am interested in designing and synthesizing functional nanostructured catalysts for electrochemistry and energy conversion devices. Specifically, my focus includes: (a) Investigating anodic and cathodic reactions in fuel cells, such as ORR , MOR , EOR , and FAOR . (b) Developing electrocatalysts, particularly transition metal nanoparticles, for HER , OER  and NRR . (c) Utilizing advanced in-situ characterization tools to explore the energy storage mechanisms at interfaces.

With the rapid development of society, the demand for energy continues to increase. The overconsumption of fossil fuels has led to serious environmental pollution and energy crises. Improving energy efficiency and developing new energy sources are effective ways to address the energy crisis.

New energy conversion devices have attracted widespread attention from scientists due to their high efficiency and cleanliness advantages. Among them, catalytic materials are the key core technology to solve the energy crisis.

Understanding catalytic mechanisms, controlling catalytic active sites, regulating the transport of electrons and ions in catalytic materials, and their interactions with reactants and product molecules play important roles in improving the catalytic efficiency, selectivity, and durability of catalysts.
