Dr Lyndall Bryant is a leading expert in Property Economics with over 20 years of senior executive experience in housing, finance, and property development, and more than a decade in academia. She offers a unique and comprehensive perspective on the forces shaping housing and property markets, addressing the complex challenges of housing markets and urban development. Her research interests fall predominantly within the area of housing affordability, and include:
- Activating spare bedrooms to supplement rental supply
- Olympics and housing displacement
- Housing options for older women
- Insolvency in the residential construction industry
Beyond her professional achievements, Lyndall is passionate about creating sustainable and inclusive communities. She collaborative and leverages her industry networks to achieve impactful research outcomes. Her influential work on valuation, property development, infrastructure, and housing affordability is widely utilised by multinational corporations, government agencies, and policymakers, making her a key influencer in shaping housing and other property-related policies. Additionally, Dr. Bryant has a strong interest in the not-for-profit sector, further demonstrating her commitment to social impact and community development.
Lyndall is the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute (AHURI) Research Director for QUT, and founder and leader of the Centre for Justice - Housing Security Research Group, focused on finding solutions to social injustice, regardless of social status or geo-political spatial location in a globalised world.
Lyndall's research on the impact of infrastructure charges on housing affordability won a national award for research from the Planning Institute of Australia (2015), and she was awarded the Faculty of Business and Law research impact award (2024) for her work on spare bedrooms and establishing QUT's housing research agenda.
Lyndall also has an interest in not-for-profit governance and holds postgraduate qualifications from the Securities Institute of Australia (FINSIA) and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
Additional information
Dr Bryant sits on the Southern Downs Regional Council's Local Housing Action Plan Working Group and the St Vincent de Paul Toowoomba Diocese Property Working Group. She has been a non-executive director of Girl Guides Queensland and holds an Independent Chair appointment with the Department of Resources related to property valuation objections.
She has served on multiple industry committees and boards for: Australian Property Institute, Property Council of Australia, Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Pacific Rim Real Estate Society.Dr Bryant has a passion for mentoring young people and has been a QUT Mentor for the past 20 years.- Type
