Professor Clifford Shearing

Professor Clifford Shearing has pioneered research on state and non-state developments in the governance of security and has been active globally in promoting policy and practice in relation to polycentric policing with a particular focus on equality and including marginalised voices and capacities.  Shearing is a member of the University of Toronto’s Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies and leads the Global Risk Governance programme, Law Faculty, University of Cape Town. In addition, he holds an adjunct position at Griffith University and a visiting position at the University of New South Wales.

His present work is focused on responses of the harmscapes of the Anthropocene and the Cybersphere.
