Professor Wood was presented with the Hal W. Hendrick Distinguished International Colleague Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES). Prof Wood received the award for her outstanding contributions to the human factors and ergonomics field at the society’s annual meeting in Seattle, USA. The award recognises the exceptional contributions made by a non-US citizen in the field.
On receiving the award, Joanne said she was honoured to be appreciated in a field beyond the broad scope of Optometry and Vision Science. She acknowledged the great contributions of her fellow contributors, many of whom have a human factors background.
“Receiving this award was a wonderful acknowledgement of those collaborations and also reflects very positively on our research team more broadly and for QUT.”
