As part of their closing celebrations for World Space Week 2025, St Thomas More College hosted an inspiring all-female-identifying careers panel titled “STEMinists in Space: Ladies Who Launch.” The event brought together high-school students and both Australian and international STEM professionals, including Australian Space Agency representative Jasmin James, Dr Lauren Fell (Director of Lunar One and QUT PhD), NASA flight surgeon Dr Amy Kreykes, and Starlab research lead and author Abigail Harrison, for an engaging discussion on career pathways in space science and technology.
Students had the opportunity to ask questions, explore the diverse range of careers in STEM, and share their excitement for the rapidly growing space industry.
Research student Vanessa Porchet proudly represented the QUT Astrophysics Research Group, contributing to a lively discussion on the future of astrophysics. The group looks forward to many more inspiring conversations with the next generation of STEM professionals across Australia and beyond
