News: Graduation of Daniel Lyon and Breanna Farley

This past weekend, we proudly celebrated the graduation of two of our MPhil students, Daniel Lyon and Breanna Farley, from the QUT Astrophysics Research Group. Both have completed outstanding research projects that contribute to our understanding of galaxy evolution.

  • Daniel completed his thesis, The Evolution of the Bolometric AGN Luminosity Function, which explored how the brightness of AGN changes over cosmic time and what this reveals about the growth of supermassive black holes.

  • Breanna completed her thesis, Decoding the Links Between Galaxy Dust Obscuration, Dust Properties, and Obscuration Indicators, a collaborative project with Professor Andrew Hopkins from Macquarie University. Her work provides new insights into how dust influences our observations of galaxies and the indicators astronomers use to measure it.

Their dedication and hard work have produced research that will help shape future studies in astrophysics. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and excited to see where their careers take them next.
