Public Event: Meet our Researchers Webinar

This school holidays, the QUT Young Accelerators program invites you to Meet the Researchers, a series of webinars to be held from 13-16 April.

In these webinars you will have the opportunity to learn about a range of current research projects, while also getting to know a little about the people behind them, and how they got to where they are now. There will also be time in each session for questions.

Each webinar will run for approximately 30 minutes and is free to attend.

The QUT Astrophysics Research Group will be presenting: Astrophysics at QUT.

In this presentation, you will hear from Dr Michael Cowley about the diverse range of astronomical research projects currently being undertaken at QUT. Made up of dedicated scientists with a keen interest in understanding the fundamental nature of the universe, the QUT Astrophysics Research Group are currently undertaking research in galaxy formation and evolution, star-formation and accreting supermassive black holes, the interaction of galaxies with their environment, multi-wavelength photometry, infrared spectroscopy, and spectral energy distribution modelling.

About Dr Michael Cowley: Dr Michael Cowley, completed his PhD at Macquarie University and the Australian Astronomical Observatory, where he researched the evolutionary impact of supermassive black holes on their host galaxies. Dr Cowley continues this research at QUT as the university’s Astrophysics Research & Teaching Associate. In addition to this, Dr Cowley is also a lecturer and adjunct research fellow at the USQ Centre for Astrophysics.
