Developing a leadership and management excellence framework for a non-profit environment
Projects have been undertaken with two different non-profit organisations to inform a comprehensive approach to management development in the organisation. The research helped the organisation to develop a framework of the critical capabilities of managers in the organisation, and identify the development required to build and/or enhance these capabilities.
The projects were designed to deliver a framework for management excellence that is reflective of the needs, expectations and aspirations of employees and managers. It was developed in a way that ensured “co-design” of the resultant framework and to engage with the widest cross-section of staff possible to ensure a feeling of ownership and understanding of what it means to be a manager in the organisation.
The research involved interviewing a cross-section of managers, and in the larger organisation surveying a cross-section of employees.
