Assessing the readiness of Queensland firms to adapt to and plan for the changing nature of work and the workforce
This project investigated the preparedness of individuals and organisations for the future workplace. The project provided organisations with an indication of the key challenges being faced by organisations with the changing nature of work and the workforce. It also identified that while awareness of future changes may be high, specific action to be well placed for the changes is low and organisations are continuing to struggle with workforce planning in an age of rapid workplace (and industry) change.
The research was undertaken in partnership with Davidson Consulting to raise the level of discussion amongst individuals and organisations around the future of work, and identify ways in which organisations can be more proactive in planning for potential changes in the workforce and the nature of work.
The purpose of the project was:
- To identify current issues being raised internationally in relation to the future of work and how these impact local businesses;
 - To draw together individuals and organisations locally for the purpose of identifying and analysing current levels of awareness of future workforce-related issues;
 - To develop some practical guides and summaries of findings to guide individuals and organisations preparing for future work challenges and to be able to “continue” the conversation

Focus groups were conducted with a cross-section of industry representatives of the Queensland business community to develop an understanding of the current level of awareness and preparedness for future changes.
