How to build an academic career in healthy ageing and aged care.
Dr Karen Watson is an academic in aged care at Sydney University. Her work focuses on healthy ageing and the care needs of older people in a variety of health settings. She is a registered nurse and was previously a practising naturopath. Her blend of knowledge and experience across these two health disciplines provides her a unique skillset as a teaching and research academic.
In this webinar, Karen outlines her academic journey. She discusses the challenges and opportunities and provides an overview of her publications, current research grants, unfunded projects and teaching evaluations. Shel concludes with a look to the future for upskilling, informal and professional carers, and the use of assisted technology to support healthy ageing.
