PhD-Candidate at the Centre of Media, Communication and Information-Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen

Visiting Period: 31 January – 24 February 2025

Paul Pressmann is a PhD-Candidate at the Centre of Media-, Communication- and Information-Research (ZeMKI) at the University of Bremen. Since February 2024, he has been part of the “Digital Communication and Information Diversity” lab under Prof. Dr. Cornelius Puschmann. In his role, he contributes to the BMBF-funded project “Informed by Influencers (INDI)”, which employs computational methods to combine mobile tracking and survey data, in order to study the distribution and effects of climate change-related science communication on social media.

His PhD project is primarily concerned with exploring the role of generative AI in both the production and perception of science communication on social media. By examining how these technologies influence public discourse and knowledge dissemination, Paul aims to uncover the implications of AI-driven content on user engagement and trust in scientific narratives. His work contributes to the understanding of the intersectional dynamics between digital media innovations and science communication strategies in the age of fast-paced technological innovations in online communication spheres.
