This event is hosted by the QUT Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC), showcasing both our Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove Campuses in Brisbane, Australia from Tuesday 4 February to Friday 7 February, 2025!
About | The 2025 Summer School features interactive sessions showcasing digital humanities and social science research across key programs and projects within the DMRC. Researchers, students, and industry partners will share how they are confronting a range of Australian and global challenges in digital media industries.
The Summer School promotes a culture of supportive research, and informed and stimulating engagement among our researchers, students, and partners. This program offers opportunities for learning and networking, as well as a great social program.

Registrations close Friday 3 January | Registrations for those who have already expressed interest will close COB Friday 3 January.
Program Delivery | The 2025 program delivery will be available in-person only, across our QUT Kelvin Grove and Gardens Points campuses in Brisbane, Australia.
Accommodation | Quest Kelvin Grove Apartments are located on the QUT Kelvin Grove Campus, and walking distance to the Education Precinct. Transport | QUT has a free intercampus bus that operates between the Kelvin Grove and Gardens Points campuses, roughly every 15 minutes. If you are not a QUT staff or student, please collect an intercampus bus pass from at the desk during the Welcome Event at the Gardens Point campus on Tuesday 4 February. Alternatively, you can collect a bus pass from the delegate registration desk when you arrive at E Block, Level 5 on the Kelvin Grove campus. See the bus timetable here.
At Kelvin Grove campus, the intercampus shuttle bus stops at:
- Musk Avenue near the Victoria Park Road intersection. If you are returning to Kelvin Grove campus from Gardens Point campus, you are welcome to alight here as buses will normally wait here before continuing to the next stop below if running early.
- Musk Avenue near the Carraway Street intersection. This is the closest bus stop to the Quest Kelvin Grove – an ADM+S staff member will be stationed here on the morning of Monday 5 February with bus passes.
At Gardens Point campus, the shuttle bus stops at:
- Alice Street, stop 95A (close to the Albert Street intersection). Head uphill on Alice Street and turn left on George Street at Queensland Parliament House.
Note, the shuttle bus does not stop between campuses.
If you are staying in the city, you can catch a Brisbane City Council bus number 66 from King George Square Bus Station to QUT Kelvin Grove Bus Station using a go card (or a Visa, Mastercard and American Express on some buses). Simply tap on and off with your contactless Visa, Mastercard or American Express card, or a linked digital wallet on your smart device.) to attend the Wednesday to Friday sessions. Alternatively, you can collect a QUT intercampus shuttle bus pass on Tuesday evening, or Wednesday morning from the registration desk. The Tuesday evening program will be held at the Gardens Point campus which is a short walk from Brisbane CBD hotels.
Wi-Fi | Delegates can access free Wi-Fi on campus by creating an account and verifying it using their personal email address, either while on campus or before they arrive.
To create an account, complete your details at the registration page. You’ll be sent a verification email to your email address provided. To access the Wi-Fi on-campus, select the ‘QUT Public Wi-Fi’ network on your device. In the pop-up login page, log in with your email and password. Once connected, you’ll be redirected to the QUT Public website and will have Internet access. If the pop-up login page doesn’t appear, open a web browser and go to the login page.
