Explore Mars in VR!
The Mars PIXLISE VR Experience aims to allow users to explore Mars in Virtual Reality. Taking control of Perserverance and its companion helicopter drone Ingenuity, users can revisit and explore various locations within the Jezero Crater, the primary hotspot for geological evidence for finding life on Mars. Users can and guide both robots, uncovering the various Sol samples taken by Perserverance, understanding their geological and chemical significance using various informative tools and techniques. This experience aims to be an immersive and useful learning and analysis tool for newcomers and data scientists alike.
Analyse Sample Data From Mars In 3D
3DGDV System developed by Mark Auman
As part of the experience, users are able to analyse actual chemical map data from rock samples taken by Perserverance on Mars. When you and Perseverance encounter a rock sample within the Mars VR experience, you can view the sample’s chemical map data. This chemical map data comes straight from Perseverance’s PIXL tool and has been processed by the PIXLISE tool developed by Peter Nemere. The data from PIXLISE is then further processed in Unity so that the chemical map data can be displayed as a 3d hologrram that can be interacted with.
