Samaneh Hashemi is a full-time Higher Degree Research student in the School of Optometry and Vision Science as well as the School of Mechanical, Medical, and Process Engineering at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia.
Samaneh graduated as the top ranked student from the University of Guilan in Rasht, Iran, with a degree in physics in 2011. She worked on eye malignancies employing brachytherapy via ocular radioactive plaques while pursuing her master’s degree in the field of medical radiation engineering at Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University. She worked on a number of projects including medical imaging and radiation treatment. In a unique approach, she could introduce “hydrogen nanobubbles” as a radio-sensitizer agent in the instance of a betta emitter ocular plaque, resulting in many potential advantages in this field. As a result of these efforts, Samaneh has had some work published in renowned journals. Because of her interest in the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders, Samaneh commenced her PhD studies in 2023, focusing on a multidisciplinary project addressing some limitations of optical coherence tomography angiography in imaging of the eye’s posterior regions.
