Candice Pearson is a QUT Higher Degree Research student within the Centre for Vision and Eye Research. She is also a Clinical Supervisor at the QUT Optometry Clinic and a VOS Optometrist delivering outreach eyecare with QUT optometry students to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Services on the North Coast.
Candice completed her Bachelor of Vision Science and Master of Optometry at QUT in 2015. She has a special interest in paediatric optometry, completing a Specialist Certificate in the Management of Paediatric Patients with the University of Melbourne in 2017 and Advanced Paediatric Eye Care through UNSW in 2024. Motivated by her interest in paediatric optometry, she began a PhD in 2025 focused on reducing distress in children during the administration of cycloplegic eye drops.
Candice also has a passion for delivering outreach optometry services. Throughout her career she has had the opportunity to visit remote communities across the Northern Territory, regional Queensland, and New South Wales, as well as internationally in Mexico and Cambodia, providing access to eyecare in these under-serviced areas.
