The Boao Forum for Vision 2017：Myopia Prevention and Control – Strategy & Perspective was held at the Boao Forum for Asia, from 30 November 2017 to 2 December 2017. The conference was organised by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Wenzhou Medical University. At the conference, Associate Professor Scott Read presented an invited keynote lecture entitled “The Choroid and Myopia”, which provided an overview of his research examining the role of the choroid in myopia development and progression. This inaugural conference was an important meeting for myopia research in China, since it culminated in the development of a consensus statement regarding a strategy for myopia prevention and control in China which is endorsed by the Chinese Centre for Disease control (CDC).
